Nieuwe generaties dromen altijd groots. Daaf Borren reisde door zo’n zestien landen in Afrika, gefascineerd door hun verhalen. In de westerse media heerst een eenzijdig beeld van het continent, meestal gekleurd door een koloniale blik. Maar de twintigers en dertigers van nu pikken dat niet meer en hebben hun eigen ideeën over hoe de toekomst vorm te geven op hun voorwaarden.

Next generations always tend to dream big. Daaf Borren traveled across sixteen countries in Africa, captivated by their stories. In Western media, a one-sided image of the continent seems to prevail, often shaped by a colonial perspective. But today's twenty- and thirty-year-olds don't accept this narrative anymore and have their own ideas about how to shape a future on their terms.
From Mali and Congo to Ethiopia and Mauritania, this is an unconventional travel book where you, aside from covering many miles, also travel to the future with Borren.

The Continent of the Future has been selected by the Dutch Foundation for Literature as part of the best non-fiction from the Netherlands. Should a non-Dutch publisher acquire the rights, a grant for a translator will be made available by the foundation. Learn more here.
